The BOC Cheers Visa Signature Card is a mid-tier points-earning card that offers 8X Gift Points on local dining and foreign currency spending. Like its Infinite sibling, you must spend at least HK$5,000 per month in total to unlock the bonus rates, otherwise all spending earns only the 1X base rate. The 8X multiplier applies to the first HK$7,500 of local dining and HK$18,750 of foreign currency spending each month, with a combined maximum of 180,000 points. Points can be redeemed for cash at 250 points per HK$1, or converted to miles at 15 points per mile. This Signature tier is more accessible than the Infinite version, requiring only HK$150,000 annual income and carrying a lower annual fee of HK$2,000 (waived for the first year).

Advantages

  • 8X points on local dining (up to HK$7,500/month)
  • 8X points on foreign currency spending (up to HK$18,750/month)
  • Flexible redemption: cash (250:$1) or miles (15:1)
  • Lower income requirement (HK$150,000/year) vs Infinite tier
  • Lower annual fee (HK$2,000) vs Infinite tier
  • Annual fee waived first year
  • Visa Signature benefits

Considerations

  • Requires HK$5,000 monthly spending to unlock 8X rates
  • Only 8X vs 10X on the Infinite version
  • Lower caps than Infinite ($7,500 dining vs $10,000)
  • Only 1X on non-dining/travel categories
  • Spending beyond caps earns only 1X base rate
  • 15:1 miles conversion is not the best rate available
Annual Fee: HK$2000 Min. Income: HK$150000/year
