Bonus category rules

  • Dining must be settled in HKD. It excludes banquets, private parties or rooms, food courts, supermarket or department-store dining, social or sports associations, and clubhouses.
  • Pet spending includes purchases at local pet shops or veterinary clinics, including qualifying online pet shops and veterinary clinics.
  • Foreign-currency retail spending must be settled in foreign currency; transactions converted and settled in HKD do not qualify for the travel rate.
  • Direct Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay retail purchases can qualify. Principal and supplementary card spending is combined.

Not eligible for Gift Points under this promotion

  • Transactions through e-wallets, including BoC Pay+, AlipayHK and WeChat Pay HK, and purchases or reloads of stored-value cards or e-wallets.
  • Cash advances, Cash Before Card, payments to other credit cards or personal loans, autopay and instalment transactions.
  • Octopus add-value or Automatic Add Value transactions, person-to-person transfers and payments routed through online payment systems such as PayPal or Alipay.
  • Public-utility and bill payments, including tax, telecommunications, membership, education or tuition, rent and utility bills.
  • Financial and similar transactions, including deposits, foreign-currency purchases, money transfers, speculation, insurance, mutual funds, stock contributions and property purchases.
  • Annual fees, finance or arrangement charges, Instant Rewards transactions and gift-delivery charges.
  • Casino or gambling transactions, charity donations and payments to non-profit organisations.
  • Transactions without a sales slip or official record, and fraudulent, unauthorised, unposted, cancelled or refunded transactions.

The BOC Cheers Visa Infinite Card offers 10X Gift Points on eligible local dining and pet spending, plus eligible foreign-currency retail spending, after at least HK$5,000 of eligible retail spending in a calendar month. Without meeting this threshold, spending earns only the 1X basic rate. Dining and pets share the first HK$10,000 monthly bonus allowance, while the foreign-currency rate applies to the first HK$25,000. Promotional points across those categories are capped at 300,000 per month; other eligible 1X points remain outside that cap.
