Eligibility, designated merchants and exclusions

Cashback is based on eligible transactions posted within each monthly statement cycle.

Designated merchant rules

  • The current designated merchants are China Mobile Hong Kong and s/ash, Circle K, foodpanda, HKTVmall, Klook, McDonald’s Hong Kong, PARKnSHOP and its selected stores, Watsons and Sasa.
  • The 5% rate applies only at designated merchant outlets in Hong Kong and to the first HKD 5,000 per monthly statement cycle.
  • Digital-wallet transactions earn 5% only when the designated merchant name appears in the statement transaction description.

Eligible transaction notes

  • Eligible retail transactions include online purchases and Octopus Automatic Add-Value transactions.
  • For an eligible interest-free monthly instalment purchase, cashback is awarded only on the instalment amount posted that month.
  • Principal and supplementary card transactions under the same account are combined.
  • Cashback is rounded down to the nearest cent and must be redeemed through the 360° Rewards platform; the minimum redemption is HKD 50 per account.

Not eligible for cashback

  • Transfers and top-ups to designated accounts, including Octopus Wallet, Alipay, FPS and other non-card-association or digital-payment accounts.
  • Insurance payments; bill payments through Standard Chartered Online Banking, Phone Banking or JET Payment Services; and phone or mail orders.
  • Gambling or betting transactions, and transactions with securities brokers or dealers.
  • Financial transactions and services, including foreign-currency purchases, money orders, travellers' cheques, face-to-face cash disbursements and wire transfers.
  • Wholesale purchases of precious stones, metals, watches or jewellery.
  • Cash advances, balance transfers, Instalment Credit, Credit-to-Cash amounts, tax payments, finance charges and fees.
  • Unposted, cancelled, refunded, falsified or unauthorised transactions.

The Standard Chartered Smart Credit Card offers 5% cashback on the first HKD 5,000 of eligible spending per monthly statement cycle at current designated merchants such as PARKnSHOP, Watsons, HKTVmall, McDonald's Hong Kong, Circle K, foodpanda and Klook. Other eligible spending earns 0.56% when monthly eligible spending is HKD 4,000-14,999, or 1.2% from HKD 15,000. Spending below HKD 4,000 earns no cashback.
